Orange County deputies say, James “Brandon” Holcomb, 33, robbed and pistol whipped a Hispanic male victim on Sunday night, near the 800 block of Wildview Drive in Apopka.

The Hispanic male victim was with a woman known to Holcomb when the incident happened around 9:20 p.m.  Deputies said, the couple were sitting in a car talking when Holcomb attacked the man.

Deputies also say, the victim ran away, and the woman and Holcomb drove off.

Deputies spotted the vehicle in the Mt. Plymouth Road area near the Lake County line. After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed. As deputies were approaching the vehicle, shots were fired in the direction of deputies but no one was hurt or injured.

Holcomb was found alone, a short time later, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies said, the woman is an acquaintance of Holcomb and the incident is not a carjacking, as initially believed.  The woman is cooperating with the investigation, but has not been identified by deputies.
