An Apopka man is in jail, charged with committing several armed robberies, with his 5-year-old son in tow, Orange County deputies said.
James D. Tindell, 30, robbed a Kangaroo Gas Station/Convenience Store at 1500 North Welsh Road, armed with a box cutter on Monday. The suspect, later identified as Tindell, fled the store in a dark green SUV, after taking cash from the clerk.
Investigators learned that, two similar robberies had occurred earlier earlier in the day in the City of Apopka. Apopka investigators advised that, the suspect had a young male, later identified as his five-year-old son, in the vehicle with him when he committed the robberies in their jurisdiction.
Apopka Police stopped the suspect’s vehicle at 1201 East Semoran Boulevard, with the suspect’s son in the SUV at the time of the apprehension.
The clerk at the Kangaroo Gas Station where one of the robberies took place, was able to positively identify Tindell as the man who robbed her.
James D. Tindell was arrested and charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, culpable negligence, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tindell was booked into the Orange County Jail on Tuesday on a bond of over $11,000.
