An elderly couple was found dead inside a home on fire in East Orange County, and deputies are viewing their deaths as suspicious.
Deputies say the discovery of the couple – a white female 80-years old and white male, 78-years-old – was made by family members who arrived at the home in the 6500 block on Pompeeii Road, off Reddit Road, around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Fire Department officials arrived and the home and confirmed the elderly couple was deceased inside. Homicide detectives were called to the scene.
Crime Scene investigators spent the day collecting physical evidence and interviewing neighbors and family members.
Deputies have not said how the couple died.
The State Fire Marshall also arrived to render his assistance and expertise.
Deputies have not released the names of the deceased, pending formal notification of next of kin.
