
An Illinois man, accusing of robbing a Kissimmee woman, is in jail after detectives and a K-9 tracked him down on Wednesday night, Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies said.
27-year-old Jason Lee Smith has been charged with several offenses including, grand theft, robbery, battery, wearing a mask during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement office.
The victim told investigators she was walking to her vehicle in a carport around 6:45 p.m., when a white male with a shirt wrapped around his face came from behind, pushed her up against her car and took her purse.
The robbery took place at 2757 Tropical Lake Drive in Kissimmee. It is unclear whether or not the victim was hurt during the robbery.
Although Smith fled the area, witnesses were able to give investigators a description and he was subsequently located at 2603 Beaumont Avenue.
Deputies said, Smith attempted to flee the area, but was detained with the assistance of a K-9.
Smith, a registered felon, was taken into custody and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
