Authorities are searching for a teenager who they say killed his grandmother early on Tuesday morning.
Polk County investigators say, 67-year-old Gloria Helfich was murdered by her grandson, 19-year-old Jasper Smiddie, at her Wales Street home in Lake Wales. Â Deputies went to conduct a well-being check requested by a family member and found Helfrich dead just after 7:00 a.m.
Authorities would not say how Helfich was killed, but only that Smiddie lived at the home with her.
A statewide BOLO (Be On Look Out) has been issued for Smiddie, who may be driving a silver 2006 Toyota Rav-4 SUV, with Florida tag N59 9GP, deputies said.
Investigators say, Smiddie was arrested on January 30, 2012 for interference with child custody, and released on bail the following day.
