Human remains found yesterday by an Orange County Road crew along Hackney Priarie Road in Ocoee, are not those of Tracy Ocasio, deputies confirmed Saturday.
Investigators were called to the 8300 block of Hackney Priarie Road on Friday morning after the work crew clearing the area for road expansion, came across a human skull.
Members of the OCSO Homicide Unit, along with the Forensics team combed the area searching for additional skeletal remains and other possible evidence that could be recovered. The OCSO Aerial Unit was also called in for an overhead view and visual search, along with a Cadaver K9.
After hours of searching the area, late Friday afternoon, the presence of additional skeletal remains were confirmed. Deputies said, the search will continue throughout today until the Homicide Unit believes they have exhausted all necessary measures and completed a thorough search dictated by the circumstances.
On Saturday, the Medical Examiner definitely ruled out that the remains found are of Tracy Ocascio, who disappeared in 2009.
Ocasio, then 27, was last seen leaving the “Taproom” bar located at 6409 Raleigh Street in Orlando on May 27, 2009. She was wearing a black tank top, blue jeans, a green and white hat, and a black hooded jacket. Her vehicle was later found abandoned in the city of Ocoee.
Ocoee police, investigating the disappearance of Ocasio, had searched the area where human remains were found on Friday, deputies said.
Police said a man named James Virgil Hataway, who is serving a life sentence for robbery and attempted murder, was the last person to see Ocasio. He has never been charged in her disappearance.
Investigators have not provided any information on the sex, race and probable age of the skeletal remains found yesterday.
Anyone with information on this discovery is urged to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline at # 1-800423-TIPS.
