A man deputies suspect committed numerous burglaries on Orange County’s eastside is now behind bars.
John Scalise, 33, who was arrested on February 11 and booked into the Orange County Jail on February 12, is charged with several counts of commercial robbery.
Investigators say Scalise used the same method in almost case to burglarize the businesses–he would smash the front glass door in the early morning hours with a brick or large rock, smash the cash register on the floor and flee the businesses with whatever he could. Scalise is believed to have committed between eight and seventeen commercial burglaries. Investigators say, the number of burglaries could even be higher than 17.
Since Scalise has been jailed, deputies say, there has been an appreciable decline in the number of commercial burglaries on Orange County’s Eastside.
Scalise is suspected of robbing the following businesses:
La Fai Tsoi at 118 S. Semoran Boulevard on January 22, 2011
Pancho’s Spanish Bakery and Deli at 73 S. Semoran Boulevard on January 25, 2011
China Plate at 937 S. Semoran Boulevard on January 25, 2011.
Scalise, who told investigators he is homeless, has a last known address in Longwood, Florida.
