Early on Saturday morning, Deputies arrested a suspect in the attempted rape of a woman near Goldenrod Road on Orange County’s east side that occurred on Tuesday night. The suspect was arrested after a tip from a citizen led detectives to his workplace and he was positively identified by the victim.
Daniel Cabrera, 23 years, an Hispanic male, who last known address is 7747 Pine Hawk Lane, Orlando, was arrested at 1:49 am on Saturday morning by officers of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Sex Crimes Squad. A citizen’s tip led detectives to Cabrera’s work place who agreed to come to the Sheriff’s Office for an interview. During this interview, the victim was able to positively identify Cabrera as the person who attempted to sexually batter her.
The attempted rape took place near Goldenrod Road on Tuesday night. The victim, a 21-year-old woman had told deputies she was dragged into a wooded area when an unknown man attempted to rape her. She was able to fight back and run for help.
Cabrera was placed under arrest and booked into the Orange County Jail around 4:30 am on Saturday. He faces several charges: attempted sexual battery with deadly force, kidnapping with intent to commit a felony and aggravated battery with intent to commit a felony. Bond has been set at $10,000.
Detectives do not believe that Cabrera is involved in any other sexual battery cases. His capture was possible by the help of the community and the more than 258 man hours that had been put into tracking down the suspect since the attempted rape.
