Deputies Arrest Fifth Third Bank Robber

A man who robbed a bank yesterday on University Boulevard, after passing a note to one of the tellers, has been arrested.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said, a suspect entered the Fifth Third Bank at 9991 University Boulevard, and handed the teller a note. The teller complied and Belles fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.  The robbery occurred just before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

A tip received after excellent video footage was released led investigators to the Oak Tree Apartments at Alafaya and University Boulevard, where they found the suspect walking.

Deputies detained the suspect, later identified a 25-year-old Joshua Robert Belles, who cooperatived with the robbery detectives. Investigators recovered some of the currency stolen from the bank.

No weapon was seen during the time of the bank robbery, investigators said.

Belles was booked into the Orange County Jail around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. He has been charged with robbery and grand theft. Bond has been set at $2,650.
