Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies and undercover detectives, during a three-day operation, conducted a county-wide proactive initiative that focused on repeat offenders, drug offenders and offenders on probation, and arrested 101 suspects. The operation resulted in the seizure of $13,378 in U.S. currency, 6 firearms, one vehicle, and over two pounds of cannabis, over 3 ounces of methamphetamine, and 45.1 grams of hydrocodone (approximately $8,600).
The investigation began on Monday, April 28, 2014, and ran through Wednesday, April 30, 2014, and focused on the Auburndale, Winter Haven, Lake Wales, Eloise, Frostproof, and north and south Lakeland areas of Polk County.
The initiative was a part of the agency’s “PROCAP” (Proactive Community Attack on Problems) program that involves gathering daily crime data, analyzing crime trends, and then delivering that information to supervisors and deputies. Each day, crime analysts and law enforcement members strategize which parts of the county would most benefit from law enforcement resources, attempting to disrupt crime trends, identify suspects, and prevent crime.
