Democrats Fire Up Women Voters in Orlando, Reject Republicans’ Agenda

Democrats fired up women voters in Orlando and rejected Donald Trump and the Republicans’ agenda.

U.S. Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried, and State Representative LaVon Bracy Davis joined other Florida leaders to fire up voters during a Women for Harris-Walz rally in Orlando. They warned of the threat a second Donald Trump term would pose to women and highlighted Democrats’ efforts to protect our freedoms in Florida and beyond.

The Florida Democrats said that Vice President Harris has been a “champion for women,” from her time as California Attorney General, to U.S. Senator, and now as Vice President. She is helping the Biden-Harris administration lead on working to expand paid family leave and lower the cost of child care, fighting for an expanded Child Tax Credit and to lower the cost of housing and education, and fighting to protect reproductive health care.

Calling the Republican agenda “extreme,” Democrats said it would threaten Americans’ rights and freedoms, eliminate the Head Start program, hurt women and the middle class, and raise costs for working families.

“For far too long, Floridians have suffered from the consequences of Rick Scott and Donald Trump’s extreme policies and many failures,” said U.S. Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “Today, thanks to MAGA Republicans like Trump and Scott, an extreme abortion ban is jeopardizing the lives of women, and Florida is becoming unaffordable for our families. Floridians are ready for change, and together, we will send Vice President Kamala Harris to the White House in November.”

“Donald Trump’s policies are not just hateful and dangerous — they directly attack our liberties, invade our doctors’ offices, and drag us back decades,” said  Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “Vice President Harris is charting a New Way Forward, where the middle class thrives and everyone gets a fair shot. And where no one’s trying to tell you how to make your own health care decisions. It’s time to reject Trump and Florida MAGA Republicans’ extreme agenda and rally behind Vice President Harris and Governor Walz.”

“Donald Trump and extreme Republicans are spearheading a Project 2025 agenda, which aims to severely restrict our reproductive rights and set us back decades,” said former State Attorney Monique Worrell, who was removed by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. “But we’re not stepping back; we’re stepping up for Florida Democrats and Vice President Kamala Harris, a proven advocate for healthcare, education, and economic opportunity, who has consistently stood up for women and families.”
