Democrats Don’t Count Florida Out after Trump-Biden Poll

Democrats are saying don’t count Florida out after a recent Trump-Biden poll in the Sunshine State.

This week, Newsweek reported that Donald Trump’s margins over President Joe Biden have narrowed since June in both Florida, by only four points. Trump won the state in 2020 and neither national campaign treated Florida like a swing state yet.

“It’s a mistake to count Florida out,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “We know that the more voters see of Donald Trump — not to mention his newest lackey J.D. Vance — the more they remember why the country rejected him in 2020. And in Florida, polls like this show that more and more Floridians are tired of suffering under Republican rule.”

A Presidential Voting Intention poll of 3,601 swing state voters by Redfield & Wilton Strategies, in partnership with The Telegraph, showed Trump ahead of Biden by only four points in Florida, barely outside of the margin of error.

Of course, former President Donald Trump is coming off a successful and unifying Republican National Convention immediately after surviving an assassination attempt. His numbers across the country are expected to see a bounce. Nationally, Democrats are battling a civil war with a faction of the party calling for Biden to drop out of the campaign. The divisive and negative Democratic narrative is a stark contrast to the unified and positive message from Republicans.

Florida Democrats are trying to use anything they can to shift the narrative, highlighting conservative and liberal issues and making it clear that Biden-Harris is the presidential ticket.

“While they grandstand in Milwaukee, we’re letting voters know exactly who’s responsible for Ron’s extreme abortion ban and our growing property insurance crisis,” FDP Chair Nikki Fried added. “Florida Democrats are building a foundation for the future and a broad coalition of voters ready to take back Florida. We’re fully focused on putting ourselves in play and re-electing President Biden and Vice President Harris.”
