Democratic Senate Candidate Champions Affordability, Climate Resiliency in Key West

Democratic Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell championed affordability and climate resiliency at a meet and greet in Key West.

The Florida Democrat challenging Republican Senator Rick Scott met with voters in the Keys to discuss the importance of protecting our coastal communities from extreme weather and tackling our state’s affordability crisis.

“Floridians know that investing in climate change resilience and caring for our environment is critical – not only to our communities but also to our state’s economic prosperity,” said Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “We’re in the middle of one of the worst hurricane seasons ever predicted. Our very livelihoods depend on our leaders’ willingness to combat the climate crisis, not ignore it — And Rick Scott has ignored the crisis for years. As Governor, he banned the term ‘climate change’ and repealed environmental protections that led to loss of billions of dollars to our economy. In the Senate, he voted against the funds to invest in climate resiliency. As Senator, I will continue fighting to protect our industries and our coastal communities.”

The Democratic candidate also joined “The Florida Roundup” for a live audience interview, and met with voters to discuss the importance of affordability.

On her South Florida swing, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell spoke at a Karavan for Kamala event in Miami.

Debbie Mucarsel-Powell announced she will vote in-person in Florida’s primary election. Afterward, she will hold a press conference with campaign supporters and community leaders to discuss the stakes of this election and the importance of defeating Republican Senator Rick Scott’s “extreme agenda.”
