The Democratic Party responded to Republican President Donald Trump’s “extreme Florida Man” cabinet after several top picks from the Sunshine State.
President Trump plans to appoint Republicans from Florida to his new administration with Marco Rubio, Mike Waltz, Susie Wiles and Pam Bondi expected to join the Trump White House in 2025. Of course, Donald Trump planned to nominate Matt Gaetz to serve as U.S. Attorney General, before Gaetz withdrew his name for consideration.
In response, the Florida Democratic Party called the Florida picks extreme and attacked the Republicans.
“This is what it looks like to Make America Florida — and it’s a living nightmare,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried.“Donald Trump is raiding our state for any Florida Man loyal to him, no matter how incompetent, unqualified, or extreme they may be.”
The top Democrat in Florida added that tapping Marco Rubio as Secretary of State and Mike Waltz as National Security Advisor was “a serious cause for concern.”
Democrats briefly celebrated Gaetz failing to move forward, but quickly attacked Bondi.
“Americans dodged a bullet with Gaetz’s withdrawal but Trump’s second choice for Attorney General is no better,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Don’t forget — Pam Bondi tried to take healthcare away from millions of Floridians. She was the ring leader in the attempt to sue the Affordable Care Act out of existence and overturn the pre-existing conditions rule. She filed the original suit and was the lead plaintiff on the case seeking to dismantle affordable care. When Donald Trump says he’s going to end the ACA, believe him now that he’s nominated Pam Bondi to finish the job.
“When she’s not taking checks from Trump in exchange for immunity, she’s defending him from impeachment. Bondi’s nomination proves that the only qualification that matters to Trump is loyalty. Her confirmation would have devastating consequences for Floridians and the American people.”
