Democratic Governors Begin Spending to Defeat Scott

Florida Democrats have not yet decided on a candidate to run against Gov. Rick Scott, but already the Democratic National Governors Association has spent big bucks – $250,000, the second largest campaign contribution given by any group between April 1 and June 30, jacksonville.com reported.  

The money has funded polling, focus groups, consultants, and a new website. It pales in comparison to money already spent by the Republican Party of Florida and a committee aligned with Scott, but it represents the initial push to defeat the former health care executive.

Former State Senator Nan Rich is the only announced Democratic candidate so far in the race for Florida governor.
