Casey Anthony’s defense attorneys, Jose Baez and Dr. Andrea Lyon filed several motions last Thursday.
The defense has requested that their client’s check fraud case be delayed. In the motion they argue that, among other things, they cannot spend time and resources on a fraud case, when there is the much more serious capital case hanging over their client’s head.
Another motion filed by the defense team seeks to prevent bounty hunter Leonard Padilla and his associate Robert Dick from giving statements and/or serving as witnesses for the state, in the first degree murder charge against Casey Anthony.
The defense has said that, when Padilla and his associate were engaged in providing security when they were first involved with Casey Anthony, what they saw and heard is privileged information, and should not be divulged.
Back on August 19, 2008, Padilla had posted a $50,000 bond required to secure the release of Casey Anthony from the Orange County jail.
Casey Anthony is charged with first degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, whose body was found dumped near the family home. If convicted Anthony could face the death penalty.
