There is a death investigation of a Central Florida inmate who was found hanging with a bedsheet. He was in jail for 100 counts of possession of child pornography.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the in-custody death investigation as a suspected suicide.
Detention deputies recently found 52-year-old Marshall Nelson, an inmate incarcerated at Falkenburg Road Jail, hanging with a bedsheet from the shower door in an apparent attempt to end his life, according to HCSO.
Deputies immediately began life-saving efforts with the assistance of jail medical staff before he was transported to the hospital.
Nelson was pronounced deceased the next day. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine his cause of death. Nelson’s next of kin has been notified according to local law enforcement.
HCSO said Nelson had been at Falkenburg Road Jail in Tampa since his arrest on January 30, 2025 for 100 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
The investigation is ongoing, according to law enforcement.
