The Conway area of Central Florida has lots of family owned places that many do not know too much about. Daybreak Diner is very high on the list of places to go for great home-style cooking. Daybreak has been in the area for about 14 years. Its first location was 2901 Curry Ford Road that is now the Italian restaurant Amalfi. Daybreak stayed there for 7 years then moved into its present spot of the old Winn Dixie supermarket in the Dover Shores shopping center. Here it is larger, cozier, and lots more parking in the spacious lot. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, is a great place to enjoy home cooking at its finest.

There are 3 egg omelets that are delicious and many other egg items that range from $4.20 $5.99. They also serve skillets, Pancakes, Waffles, and French Toast that are all reasonably priced between $.99 to $3.85. I’ve had several different omelets that are delicious with a choice of biscuit or toast and the option of hash browns, home fries, or grits.

I’ve also had some of the sandwiches that are also very filling. There are clubs of Turkey or Ham that are very tasty and different kinds of burgers and hot dogs. They also have turkey and veggie burgers for those who do not eat meat.

For dinner they have different daily specials that are appetizing from steak to spaghetti. All are like home cooking. On many occasions I have met friends for breakfast and other times just gone for a cup of coffee. Where some places have a problem with people coming and only having drinks, this one has that down home feel that is missing in many establishments today.

There is a television that broadcasts TV 13 that plays so that people can keep up on current events. Later the staff changes to channel 9 Eyewitness News. The sound level is very soft and does not interrupt a conversation people might be having.

One of the nicest aspects is the servers who are all pleasant and caring and love to see and talk to their regulars. Gerard and Lizabeth Johnson the owners talk to their guests and make it that much more of a special place to have a tasty meal, fabulous service and great conversation.

It kind of reminds me of the Mayberry Diner on the “Andy Griffith Show” where everyone used to go for good food and company.
