Deputies are searching for a man who they say robbed a CVS Pharmacy on Highway 92 E., in Lakeland.
The suspect entered the CVS Pharmacy at the corner of Hwy 92 E. and Combee Road around 7:45 p.m., on Tuesday and picked up a bottle of Mountain Dew from the wall coolers.
The man approached the counter, handed the bottle of Mountain Dew to the CVS employee to purchase and handed him a $10 bill.
Investigators said, as the employee opened the register, that’s when the suspect reached over the counter and attempted to grab the register drawer. The employee grabbed the suspect’s hands and stopped the suspect from taking the drawer, but the suspect managed to steal an estimated $26, along with his original $10 bill.
The suspect, who fled the store around the east side of the building and then north on N. Eastside Dr., left the Mt. Dew bottle behind.
A K-9 track led north on N. Eastside Dr. and stopped at the corner of Everett Street where detectives believe he was picked up in a vehicle or he drove himself away.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his mid 20’s, with a thin build, wavy medium hair combed back, thin beard, and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, khaki pants, and black sneakers.
