Crist Announces New Plan to Rebuild Film, TV Industry in Florida

Charlie Crist Film TV industry FloridaDemocrat Charlie Crist unveiled his newest plan, “Entertainment Florida,” aimed directly at reestablishing Florida as a major hub for film and TV production. The Democratic candidate for governor said his plan will strengthen and diversify Florida’s economy, while bringing hundreds of thousands of new jobs to the Sunshine State. Crist held the event surrounded by film and television industry support staff.

Crist’s Entertainment Florida plan follows Charlie’s history of supporting the film industry as governor. Under Crist, Florida ranked third in the nation for film production. Today, under Ron DeSantis, Florida fails to rank among the top 20, and the state has lost over $1.5 billion in revenue opportunities.

The Crist plan, which would have long-term benefits for Florida’s tourism industry, will restore Florida as a “film friendly” state through proven, bipartisan incentives to attract TV and film production, bringing hundreds of thousands of jobs to communities across our state.

“Florida’s once iconic film and television production industry has been decimated under Ron DeSantis’s failed leadership. We will rebuild it under the Crist Administration,” said Charlie Crist. “Governor DeSantis has let hundreds of millions in economic activity leave our state, and countless jobs slip away. We’re going to bring it all back to Florida, reestablishing the Sunshine State as a global hub for making the best movies and TV shows in the world.”

“Under Governor Crist, Florida was THE destination for film and television production,” said Leah Sokowlowsky, Location Manager. “That spotlight brought good-paying jobs, economic activity, and opportunity to all Floridians. Now, under DeSantis, big budget features go elsewhere and Florida’s independent productions start at a disadvantage. I’m supporting Charlie Crist‘s plan because I don’t want to see another Florida story shot in Georgia.”
