Governor Charlie Crist has agreed to debate his Republican primary rival Marco Rubio on March 7 and March 28th. The first debate will be hosted by Meet the Press and the second by Fox News.
According to a Crist campaign spokeswoman, Andrea Saul, “Gov. Crist looks forward to participating in an open and honest discussion with Speaker Rubio about issues that directly affect Florida voters. These debates will give Floridians the chance to learn more about the candidates’ actual records, and to see for themselves that Gov. Crist is the clear choice when it comes to sending a senator to Washington who will stand behind the principles of less government, less taxes, and more personal freedom.”
Rubio, for his part said that, he was pleased that Crist “finally” accepted his longstanding invitation.
The most recent Quinnipiac University poll has Rubio ahead of Crist by 3 percentage points.
