A Polk County couple has been arrested and charged with operating an assisted living facility without a license.
Jason Carl Burse Jr. and wife, Marquita Green Burse were arrested early on Wednesday morning by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, with the assistance of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest of the couple came as a result of an investigation and acting on information received from the Department of Children and Families and the Agency for Health Care Administration.
Investigators determined that Jason Carl Burse, 36 and Marquita Green Burse, 49, were operating an assisted living facility in Auburndale without a license. The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) had previously revoked their license to operate such a facility in Polk City.
Both defendants have been charged with one count each of operating and/or maintaining an assisted living facility without a license, a third-degree felony.
