Couple Charged with Child Abuse, Neglect of Toddler

A Longwood couple was arrested Wednesday, charged with neglect and abuse of a 16 -month-old  child, Seminole County Sheriff’s deputies said.

David Espinosa, 23, and Kari Lindahl, 22, were booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility last night.

Espinosa was charged with child abuse causing great bodily harm or disability, a first degree felony, and Lindahl was charged with neglect of a child resulting in great bodily harm, a third degree felony.

Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Child Protective Investigators went to the South Seminole Hospital early on Tuesday morning, after a report was received about an injured 16-month0old at the emergency room.

Investigators say, the child was unresponsive and had severe bruising on his head, face, stomach, back and arms, consistent with physical abuse.

Lindahl told the doctors that the child had sustained injuries as a result of a fall in the bathtub on February 25, while in the care of her boyfriend, Espinosa.

The child was only brought to the emergency room two days later, and Lindahl claimed she didn’t see all the bruises, deputies said.

Espinosa and Lindahl were booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, last night. Espinosa was booked on a no bond status and Lindahl was booked with a $4,000 bond.
