Undercover narcotics detectives dismantled a marijuana grow house in Poinciana on Monday, arresting a husband and wife, deputies said.

Lazaro Gutierrez, 32, and Yureikis Gutierrez Hernandez, 31, were arrested after detectives seized 37 mature marijuana plants, hoods, ballasts, bulbs and other drug paraphernalia from their home in the 400 block of Magpie Court in Poinciana.

The couple jumped in a car and sped from their home when police went to serve a search warrant, but stopped about one block away. Yureikis told investigators that they were nervous.

The couple were taken into custody, without incident.

Lazaro and Yureikis were both arrested and charged with:

  • One count Cultivation of Marijuana
  • One count Trafficking in Marijuana
  • One count Maintaining a Dwelling for Narcotics Manufacturing
  • One count Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Yureikis was additionally charged with one count Resisting Arrest due to her initially fleeing the scene. Both will remain in the Polk County Jail until a first appearance hearing later today.
