County Hotel Tax Collections Increase 3 Percent

Martha Haynie - Orange County Comptroller

Orange County Comptroller Martha Haynie said, resort tax collections in August 2011 were 3 percent higher than the same month one year ago.

This represents $11.4 million collected by the county in hotel tax receipts.

Haynie said she was pleased that the tax continues to show increases over the same month in the prior year.

To date, cumulatively, hotel tax collections are up by 13.6 percent for the fiscal year 2011 over the previous year.

Resort taxes are charged on short-term rental, mostly hotels and motels.
