A corrections officer employed at the Polk Correctional Institute was arrested on Monday.
28-year-old Johnny Tucker, a Florida Department of Corrections officer, is accused of physcially assaulting his wife.
A couple told Polk County deputies, while driving on North Combee Road, they witnessed a man assaulting a woman alongside a white Jeep Cherokee parked on the roadside. The couple stopped their car, but the man and woman got back into the Cherokee and drove off.
Investigators said, the couple wrote down the vehicle tag number and called deputies with a description of the man and woman, the vehicle and tag number.
Investigators also said, they ran the tag number and responded to the home where it was registered. The home turned out to be that of Johnny Tucker and his wife. A Jeep matching the witnesses’ description and the tag number was parked in the driveway, deputies said.
Tucker and his wife confirmed to deputies they had just come from the North Combee Road area.
Tucker was placed under arrest and transported to the Polk County Jail. He has been charged with one count of battery/domestic violence. Tucker bonded out of jail yesterday.
