Around 10:00 pm on Saturday, deputies observed what they believed to be an occupied stolen vehicle parked at the Citgo gas station at 7301 south Orange Blossom Trail.

Deputy Sheriff Clifton, in turn, executed a tactical park on the vehicle, whereupon the driver of the vehicle rammed the deputy’s patrol car head on.

The driver was arrested and identified as Michael L. Schwartz, 40 years.

Schwartz, a sex offender, was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated battery on a Law Enforcement Officer with a motor vehicle, resisting an officer with violence, possession of cocaine and failure to register as a sex offender.  He was transported to the Orange County Jail, where he is being held.

Meanwhile, Deputy Sheriff Clifton was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.  He was treated and released.

Deputies said that more charges against Schwartz are pending by the SOS Squad.
