On September 28, a special event will be held to honor Congresswoman Corrine Brown of the Fifth Congressional District. The event will pay tribute to her longtime service as an elected official, while supporting local residents in need.
Developed by a planning committee of local luminaries, the event is described by Chairperson, Reggie McGill, as a mid-day affair of “music, laugher, rejoicing and singing.” The program – held at the Rosen Centre Hotel – includes, lunch, entertainment and a fashion show by Wilbourn Fashion Design of Atlanta, GA. Proceeds benefit the Helping Hand Trust Foundation, which provides food, housing, education, at-risk programming and prison ministry outreach.
Tables are available for purchase at $500. Individual tickets are $50 each.
The event is being presented by the Helping Hand Foundation Trust and a host committee of local luminaries, including McGill, The Honorable Mable Butler (co-chair), Former City of Orlando Police Chief and local politician Val Demings, pastors, professionals and representatives from local fraternities, sororities and service organizations.
“This event is significant because it gives us a platform to thank Congresswoman Brown for her continued commitment to the communities she serves, while still helping others, as she always does” said McGill. “We are asking local organizations and entities to purchase tables. Individuals are welcome to purchase single tickets as well.”
“We are delighted to be a part of honoring the congresswoman and from this, being able to touch the community through the foundation’s outreach programs,” added Verna Brinson, president of the Helping Hand Foundation Trust. “We are honoring a tireless giver while giving to others at the same time.”
