The body found in the woods of Newburgh, Maine today, is missing Seminole County fireman, Jerry Perdomo of Orange City,Steve McCausland, a spokesperson with the Maine Department of Public Safety said.
The identification of Perdomo’s body was made Wednesday afternoon, by Maine’s Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Margaret Greenwald.
McCausland said, an autopsy on Perdomo’s body will not begin until Friday, at the earliest.
Blood droplets and skull fragments found in a residence led police to arrest Daniel Porter, 24, on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Perdomo.
An Affidavit for Porter’s arrest, released on Wednesday morning, stated that:
“Crime Scene technicans found evidence of blood droplets, spatter, what appears to be a piece of skull or bone and evidence of a broken window,” at a residence belonging to a relative of Porter’s. “There were new carpets on the floor covering an area that tested presumptive positive for blood,” the report also stated.
DNA found at the home also turned out to be consistent with DNA of Perdomo’s father’s offspring, according to the reort.
Porter, named a person of interest, was arrested on Tuesday at the rental home of his father and booked into the Waldo County Jail.
Bangor, Maine police have said Perdomo’s murder was a drug-related homicide, reports bangordailynews.com.
The report released Wednesday also states that Porter filed a complaint on January 8, last month, suspecting Perdomo of throwing rocks through the window of his residence in Newbugh. Both suspects alleged threats by the other.
While investigating the complaint, Perdomo had told police he observed Porter with a machine gun and that Porter threatened to shoot him and put him through a wood chipper. For his part, Porter told police, Perdomo had threatened to cut off his hands and kill him.
Porter’s girlfriend, 25-year-old Cheyanne Nowak, when interviewed by police said, Porter’s relationship with Perdomo was “business and they were both involved with drug activity,” according to the police report.
