Legacy Central Florida and MIA Media and Communications Group Inc. present a Gala Weekend to celebrate Central Florida’s 50 Most Powerful and Influential Black Professionals. The Central Florida Legacy magazine is a quarterly news and business publication providing insightful articles and information on business, careers, politics, lifestyle, culture and social commentary, relevant to Central Florida’s Black “Affluencers” and Influencers. The magazine is distributed via a partnership with the Orlando Sentinel, and will be available in the Thursday, June 26th paper.
The Legacy Weekend is packed with events at the host hotel, The Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Orlando at SeaWorld. The events are designed to promote networking allowing patrons to develop business and personal connections.
The Youth Mentoring Workshop titled “Power, Passion & Purpose” takes place on Saturday June 28 from 10AM to 1PM. The Workshop includes several segments geared towards our youth. “Meet the Candidates” encourages civic education and public service in our youth. “Healthy Bodies, Strong Minds” promotes healthy lifestyles including a discussion about mental health. “Teens & Tech” will share entrepreneurship basics, and Cultural Fusion will present an improv class to the Workshop attendees. The Poolside Day Party takes place from 12 noon to 4PM at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Orlando at SeaWorld. Central Florida’s business professionals are invited to meet poolside to mix business with pleasure in the luxurious tropical ambiance of the host hotel. This event is reserved for adults aged 21 and up.
The Gala’s theme is The Harlem Renaissance. 2014 Gala Chairwoman Dionna Hurt promises an event that will celebrate the best of Central Florida’s Black community, by sharing it with all of Central Florida. Ms Hurt is well known due to her multiple television appearances which include The Today Show, Fox News, the Food Network, The Daily Buzz and online as the former host of iVillage Live’s cooking segment. The Gala will be held on June 28th at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Orlando at SeaWorld starting at 8PM. The Cocktail Hour begins at 7PM, allowing Gala patrons to mingle and network prior to the star-studded evening.
In keeping with the theme and its celebration of Jazz and Big Band, the evening’s entertainment includes a preview of the jazz show sensation Legends, and a celebrity impersonator of Nat King Cole as the Master of Ceremonies. Orlando Magic’s DJ Flip is the Guest DJ for the night. The publication’s Leadership team consists of mix of Black professionals from both Central Florida and South Florida. Dexter Bridgeman is the CEO/Publisher and Founder of Legacy Magazine. Bridgeman tapped Orlando’s noted multimedia personality and community champion Élan Tshayé Jackson to be Legacy Central Florida’s editor and publisher. Patent Attorney and Managing Partner at Brown Intellectual Property Law Firm, P.A., Joycelyn Brown is Publisher of Legacy Miami recently joined Legacy Central Florida in Operations. Vice-President of Sales & Marketing for RPS, Inc., Dionna Hurt of Longwood in Central Florida is the Gala Chair. Due to health concerns, Jonathan Sebastian Blount has stepped down from the Central Florida Legacy Magazine while he recuperates from an illness.
