“Coffin Flies”, One of the Keys to Unlocking Anthony Case

A forensic entomologist who will testify for the prosecution in the Casey Anthony first degree murder case, could well undermine the defense theory that, their client could not have dumped her daughter’s body in the wooded area where the child was found, as Casey was in jail at the time.

Neal Haskell, a leading forensic entomologist who in 2008, identified the presence of microscopic flies in the trunk of Casey Anthony’s vehicle, demonstrated in an exclusive interview with wesh.com recently, how insects drawn to decaying bodies always follow the same pattern.

But the Anthony defense team is challenging Haskell’s findings, saying that “coffin flies” were not present in the trunk of Casey’s car.

Casey Anthony is charged with first degree murder in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee.  She has maintained her innocence and has said that her daughter was was kidnapped by a baby sitter. The child’s remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family home, in December 2008.

Anthony is in the Orange County Jail awaiting trial which is expected to commence on May 9, 2011.
