Former U.S. President Bill Clinton is set to join UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in a visit to Haiti next week.
Clinton and Ban Ki-moon are set to visit the struggling country to promote international aid there, the U.N. peacekeeping chief said Monday. The visit is set for March 9-10.
Alain Le Roy told reporters Monday that the former President and the secretary-general `want to raise awareness on Haiti to see that there must be more assistance to Haiti.`
The visit comes as Haiti struggles to recover from four back-to-back storms last year and as U.S. Haitians fight against a plan by the country`s immigration agencies to deport over 30,000 nationals back to the Western hemisphere’s poorest nation.
