City Teams Up with Business Leaders to Beautify Neighborhood

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 2 Commissioner Tony Ortiz will work-along with the Semoran Business Partnership and more than 300 community volunteers in an effort to further beautify the Semoran Boulevard neighborhood.

During the “Get Up, Stand Up, Clean Up Semoran!” event, volunteers will pick up trash between Lake Underhill Road and Colonial Drive (SR 50).

The event will help the neighborhood implement some of the goals outlined in the recently completed vision plan for the area.  The Semoran Boulevard Vision Plan, developed under Commissioner Ortiz’s leadership, is a long-term guide for future development and improvements in the area.  Through the vision plan process, the City has engaged the entire Semoran neighborhood to shape the community’s future revitalization efforts and positioning it for future development. The area includes Semoran Boulevard from Grant Street to Banco Popular on the North side of the 408 Expressway.

As a result of the visioning process, the Semoran Business Partnership was created.  The Semoran Business Partnership is a non-profit organization made up of businesses, property owners, residents and leaders within the Semoran Boulevard corridor. The main goal of the partnership is to revitalize this part of Semoran Boulevard while focusing on things such as crime reduction, traffic flow and increasing business.

In less than one year, with the commitment and leadership of Juan Triana, President of the Semoran Business Partnership and the Board of Directors, the Semoran Business Partnership has become a 60 member organization and just last month the organization received designation as a City of Orlando Market Street.
