Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the City of Orlando’s Emergency Management have been closely monitoring Tropical Storm Isaac and are in constant contact with various local, volunteer, state and federal organization, to ensure Orlando citizens and the rest of Central Florida are prepared for a possible storm, a statement from the Mayor’s office said Friday afternoon.
The City of Orlando’s Emergency Operations Center remains at the monitoring level and City departments are continuing to take precautionary measures for any potential impacts from a possible storm, the statement added.
The Mayor is urging all residents, visitors and businesses to closely monitor the storm and to keep abreast of any new developments regarding its path. Dyer also urged that preparation of family emergency kits commence.
Residents should not place limbs, leaves and other material at the curb until their regularly scheduled yard waste collection day or until the City announces alternate plans after a storm. Â Limbs and bags of leaves can be placed next to the resident’s home during a storm and then placed curbside after a storm has passed. Â This will help reduce possible flooding problems and allow for easy pick up after the storm has passed.
