City Kicks Off Black History Month

 

blackhistoryOrlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Daisy W. Lynum, District 6 City Commissioner Samuel B. Ings and Onyx Magazine invite the Central Florida community to the annual Black History Month Kickoff Reception to recognize the contributions and positive influence of African Americans in Orlando.

This year, the event will honor Former County and City Commissioner, Mable Butler; N.Y. Nathiri, Director of Multidisciplinary Programs of P.E.C. and Veteran Opera Performer and Mr. Curtis Rayam. At the event, Orlando Mayor Dyer will present each of the honorees with a key to the city.

The month of February is known nationally as Black History Month and is dedicated to honoring the achievements of African Americans and their lasting impact on our nation’s history.
