City Employees Raise Over $445,000 through Giving Campaign

Through the City of Orlando’s Workplace Giving Campaign, more than $445,000 in donations was distributed to 464 charity organizations at the City Council meeting Monday.

More than 1,200 City employees participated in the 2011 fundraiser, surpassing the $400,000 goal.

“The Workplace Giving Campaign is one of the many ways City employees show their commitment to the community and give back,” said Mayor Buddy Dyer. “I was extremely impressed by the dedicated hard working members of our City family, who this year, broke all records for charitable giving at City Hall. Through their monetary contributions, our employees are helping address some of the most critical issues facing Central Florida.”

Local contributions included donations to, Orlando’s Hospice of the Comforter, United Arts of Central Florida and United Negro College Foundation.

Donations also went to charities of the employee’s choice and major organizations including Heart of Florida United Way, America’s Charities, Community Health Charities of America, Independent Charities of America, Neighbor to Nation, Earth Share and Global Impact.
