Central Florida congregations and allies are calling on administrators and elected officials to make changes to the eligibility requirements of the $1 billion “Hardest Hit Fund” Program. Administered by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation in Tallahassee, the program has helped just over 1,000 households and rejected more than 5,000 applicants. The eligibility requirements and aid under the program are seen as much more stringent than in other “hardest hit” states.
A public meeting designed to inform leaders and residents about the fund and how it can better serve households caught in the foreclosure crisis will be held on Thursday, August 11, at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N. Park Avenue, Winter Park.
