The daughter of a Florida pastor, accidentally hit in the head one week ago, died on Saturday, authorities said.
Hannah Kelley, 20, died at the Bayfront Medical Center at 10:20 a.m., the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office said.
On February 12, Kelly was shot in the head by a stray bullet at Grace Connection Church, 4017 56th Avenue North, where her father, Tim Kelly is the pastor.
According to investigators, 48-year-old Moises Zambrana, was showing off his Ruger 9mm pistol to Kelley’s finance, Dustin Bueller, another church member when the gun went off, discharging a bullet through the wall into a room next door, hitting Hannah in the head.
Investigators also say, Zambrana had removed the gun’s magazine and was explaining its safety features, and was unaware that a round was still in the chamber.
Hannah was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where she remained in critical condition for one week.
Deputies are still investigating the shooting. No charges have been filed.
The following statement was posted on Grace Connection Church’s website following Hannah’s passing:
“Pastor Tim and Peggy Kelley said “good-bye” to their beautiful twenty-year old daughter Hannah Grace today.
They would like to thank Bayfront Hospital for their kindness and exceptional efforts to save Hannah and the outpouring of prayers and encouragement from the Grace Connection church family, the Tampa Bay community, and others nationwide and around the world.
The family has forgiven Mr. Zambrana and would ask that others treat him with love and grace. The family would encourage mothers and fathers everywhere to hug their children a little tighter as you never know when it will be your last opportunity.
Hannah trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and Tim and Peggy look forward to seeing her again in Heaven.”
The memorial service for Hannah Grace Kelley will be Saturday, February 25 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Chapel. 8900 U.S. 19, Pinellas Park, FL 33782, according to the church’s website.
