Child-Minder Charged with First Degree Murder in Toddler’s Death

Charles L. Foster – suspect

A 23-year-old Cocoa man has been arrested, accused of throwing a two-year-old child against a bed, resulting in her death.

Charles L. Foster, 23, has been charged with first degree murder and aggravated child abuse and is being held in the Brevard County Detention Center without bond.

Deputies said, Foster was caring for the toddler, along with several other children, when he became frustrated with the two-year-old and allegedly threw her against a bed.

The toddler, who was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital on Monday, May 21st, suffered severe head trauma. She was removed from life support yesterday.

Foster was jailed on Monday on charges of aggravated child abuse. The charges were upgraded Friday to first degree murder, as a result of the child’s death.
