Chief Val Demings has received the endorsement of SEIU Florida in the Congressional District 10 race. SEIU represents over 55,000 public employees, healthcare workers, and property service workers in Florida.
“Chief Val Demings is the most prepared candidate to take on the challenges facing Congressional District 10. Our members are proud to endorse her,” said Monica Russo, SEIU Florida President. “Val knows hardship. From very humble beginnings, she worked hard and shattered records of achievement, never forgetting to reach back and help people in need. As a social worker and a law enforcement officer, Val saw first hand the plight of working families and spent her career trying to improve the quality of life of those she served. Val has long been an advocate for working families and we know she will continue to be a champion for them in Congress.”
“The fight for working families is personal for me, so I’m very honored and humbled to receive the endorsement of SEIU,” said Val Demings. “Tens of thousands of workers here in Central Florida and beyond are fighting to provide a decent life for their families while making minimum wage. Their concerns are important to me and I am committed to working alongside SEIU in Congress to fight for livable wages, protect social security and medicare, and work to increase access to quality education.
Chief Demings is facing off against State Senator Geraldine Thompson, Bob Poe and Fatima Fahmy in the upcoming Democratic primary for Florida’s 10th Congressional District.
