Chief John Tegg announced this week that his campaign has raised $211,878.31 in total monetary contributions since his campaign began. Friday, July 25 was the filing deadline for the second quarter finances. Chief Tegg had his largest fundraising quarter to date with $82,157.85 in monetary contributions.
“I am very excited about our campaign”, said Chief Tegg. “Money certainly doesn’t mean everything, but it is very important that we have the financial resources to take my message to the voters of Orange County. We are ahead of schedule on our finance plan and I am very excited about the coming months of this campaign.”
Crossing the $200,000 threshold combined with the other important aspects of a successful campaign sets Chief Tegg up as the undisputed frontrunner in the campaign to replace retiring Sheriff Kevin Beary. Chief Tegg is the only candidate in the Sheriff’s race with a volunteer base large enough to qualify for the ballot by petition. By the end of February, Chief Tegg’s campaign collected over 6,500 signed petition cards.
Chief Tegg also leads in the endorsement race. Most importantly, Chief Tegg has the endorsement of every major law enforcement and public safety organization in Orange County. Chief Tegg has the endorsement of the Florida Police Benevolent Association, Central Florida Police Benevolent Association, Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police Lodges 25, 64, 86, and 93, Orange County Professional Firefighters, and the Orlando Professional Firefighters.
