The Florida Lottery announced that Janice Velez, of Kissimmee, claimed a top prize of $5 million prize from the $5,000,000 CASHWORD scratch-off game at the Lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee.
The Central Florida woman chose to receive her winnings as a whopping one-time, lump-sum payment of $3,915,000.00.
Velez purchased her winning ticket from RaceTrac, located at 4541 Pleasant Hill Road in Kissimmee. The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
The $20 scratch-off game $5,000,000 CASHWORD launched in May 2020 and features eight top prizes of $5 million and 24 second-tier prizes of $1 million. The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.91.
Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 72 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2022-2023. Since inception, scratch-off games have generated more than $18.09 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
