Another Central Florida student has been arrested for bringing a weapon on school grounds.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested a 13-year-old student at Davidsen Middle School in Tampa for bringing a knife onto school grounds.
School administrators received a tip regarding a student possibly in possession of a weapon.
An administrative search was conducted, and a knife was located in a student’s bookbag.
The student, 13-year-old Miguel Figueroa, was charged with one count of Possession of a Weapon on School Property.
“This type of behavior is dangerous and unacceptable,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We take every threat to school safety seriously, and I commend the swift actions of school staff and our deputies to ensure no one was harmed. Our priority will always be protecting our students and maintaining a safe learning environment.”
This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
