A Central Florida man was busted on an outstanding warrant after accidentally shooting himself.
According to law enforcement, a Davenport man accidentally shot himself in the leg on November 10th and ended up in the Polk County jail following a brief stop at the hospital.
Polk County Sheriff’s office deputies were called to a residence on Holly Hill Cut Off Road at around 11pm, following a reported shooting.
43-year old Michael Konyha told deputies that he was walking along the road when an unknown person shot him for unknown reasons.
Deputies interviewed witnesses and examined evidence at the scene, and quickly determined that Konyha was not being honest with them.
Konyha was treated and released at a local hospital, then taken to the Polk County Jail where he was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
According to local law enforcement, Michael Konyha has six prior felony convictions, which prohibits him by law from possessing firearms and/or ammunition. He also had an active warrant for his arrest out of Calhoun County, Georgia.
