Central Florida Man Arrested for Child Abuse Involving Belt Buckle

A Central Florida man was arrested for child abuse involving a belt buckle.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies recently responded to the 12500 block of Oaks Place in Tampa in reference to a battery call for service.

Deputies learned a child in the care of 44-year-old Oscar Castillo Alvarenga was struck in the head with the buckle portion of a belt multiple times and required medical attention.

Castillo Alvarenga was arrested and charged with Child Abuse.

“Every child deserves a loving and safe place to call home, and this man’s actions are reprehensible,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are committed to protecting our most vulnerable residents and holding those who harm children accountable.”

This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
