Youth from Parramore Kidz Zone, Hope Community Center and Rosemont Community Center will hold court this Tuesday at the Orange County Courthouse to hear a case involving teenage drug possession and abuse.
It’s all part of a mock trial conducted under the watchful eyes of real Ninth Circuit Judges who have created the program to promote awareness and understanding of the law and what happens when the law is violated. Regardless of the verdict, each young participant will leave the courtroom with a better understanding of the legal process and the consequences of criminal behavior.
“This is the fun and easy way for kids to learn about the law and why it’s important to stay out of trouble,” said County Judge Faye Allen. “We want this to be a positive educational experience for these kids, but we also want it to be an eye opening experience, since many of these children are at risk to be involved in criminal behavior,” said the Judge.
The program is being held as part of the Pathways in Law Program and is designed to provide an environment for education and awareness of the legal system for youth in the community.
