Central Florida 19-Year-Old Arrested for Online Extortion of 16-Year-Old

A Central Florida 19-year-old was arrested in an online extortion case involving a 16-year-old female victim.

Tampa Police Detectives assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Squad arrested 19-year-old Christopher Patrinostro on multiple felony counts, including extortion.

A 16-year-old female in Tampa reported being contacted online by an unknown suspect, later identified as Christopher Patrinostro, who sent nude images of the female to her and demanded more.

He threatened to leak the material if the victim did not comply, according to local law enforcement.

The victim bravely contacted the Tampa Police Department and detectives began a detailed investigation. They gathered evidence, followed up on leads, and identified Patrinostro as the suspect.

An arrest warrant was issued and members of the Tampa Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested Patrinostro at his home in Brandon. Working in partnership with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Tampa Police detectives executed a search warrant at the residence and seized devices belonging to Patrinostro.

“This case highlights the courage it takes to come forward and report these types of crimes,” said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. “The detectives who make up our ICAC Squad are committed to pursuing these offenders and holding them accountable. This is also a stark reminder of the importance of online safety, especially for our young people.”

Patrinostro was charged with Extortion, Promotion of a Sexual Performance by a Child, Use of Computer to Solicit Certain Illegal Acts (Misrepresent Age), and Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communications Device. He was transported to Orient Road Jail.
