Why You Shouldn’t Jack Cars

carjacking-generic-webA man carjacked a vehicle on Friday morning with a toddler fast asleep in the back-seat, Orange County deputies say.

The carjacking happened at the entrance to Chowder Bay Apartments at 4700 S. Rio Grande, around 11:30 a.m.

Investigators say, the father of the 2-year-old child was coming out of Chowder Bay Apartments when he was pulled out of his vehicle by the suspect, who then took off in the 4-door Acura.  The vehicle was found abandoned at Lakeview Pointe Apartments, formerly Carlton Arma Apartments, about 10 minutes later.

The child was still sleeping in the backseat and unhurt, investigators said.

Deputies are not actively seeking the carjacking suspect, as the victim doesn’t wish to press charges.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Crimeline at # 800-423-TIPS.
