The 5th Annual Caribbean American Heritage Month (CAHM) Festival 2014, will take place at Lake Eola Park on June 22, beginning at 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m.
The CAHM Festival celebrates Caribbean culture and brings people together from all races, classes and creeds in a celebration of Soca, Reggae, Calypso, Zouk and revelry together with Caribbean flavors!
EXPERIENCE CULTURAL PERFORMANCES starting after lunch starting with the Kiddies Carnival
After that experience various types of cultural performances highlighting the diverse culture in the Caribbean. The afternoon will feature LIVE entertainment performances by several Caribbean bands – playing soca, reggae,Zouk, chutney and more. LIVE Tassa drumming, a kwe kwe performance – which is an African pre wedding celebration done in Guyana, Indian dancers performing chutney, bollywood and traditional dance, stilt walkers and other cultural performances which will feature the culture from the islands Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada, St. Lucia, Guyana, Haiti and Bahamas to name a few. Steel band music will be provided by New Generation Branches Ssteel Orchestra.
FOOD – The event will feature foods from the various Caribbean islands – Trinidadian, Guyanese, Jamaican and Haitain food.
DRINK – The event will feature alcoholic and non–alcoholic drinks from the Caribbean region.
Beers of the Caribbean – Prestige, Kalik, Red Stripe, Banks, Carib, Presidente. Enjoy them and vote for your choice for best beer of the Caribbean. There will be a special 21 and older sample area set up for those wanting to taste the alcoholic beverages from the different Caribbean islands.
Experience the Islands: Talk to Caribbean people representing the various islands, the members of several Caribbean Associations will be there to share information about their island and how you could experience a piece of it right here in Central Florida, visit their booth. Antigua & Barbuda, Jamaica, Guyana, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago.
