Car Crash in Volusia Leaves One Man Dead, Another Critically Injured

Troopers are investigating a single vehicle crash that left one man dead and another in critical condition on Saturday around 9:00 pm, in Volusia County.

Investigators are still trying to determine who was driving a 1995 Chevy Surburban onto SR 472 eastbound from US Highway 1792 southbound, when the right side tires hit the curb in the curve of the ramp.

Troopers said, the driver over-corrected and the left side tires went onto the grass median.  The driver over-corrected again and the vehicle went across both eastbound lanes, and off of the south side of the roadway.  The vehicle overturned several times as it went up the embankment.

Both occupants of the vehicle, 57-year-old Parke Teal of Deland and 54-year-old Mark Hebert, of Debary, were ejected.

Teal was pronounced dead on the spot.

Hebert was taken to the Halifax Medical Center with critical injuries.

Troopers are continuing with the investigation and charges are pending.
